Hotel Navarra Brugge is an elegant four-star boutique hotel with 94 rooms, housed in a monumental mansion from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries at Sint Jakobsstraat 41, in the middle of the historic city center. The building already had a rich history as the residence of the Spanish consul of Navarre and as a commercial and mansion before it reopened as a hotel in the early 1980s, which is still evident today in its high ceilings, stately staircase and classical façade. In the rooms, the hotel combines timeless decor with contemporary comforts such as air conditioning, minibar, safe, coffee and tea facilities and modern bathrooms, so that business travelers and city trippers alike feel right at home.
Guests can relax in the heated indoor pool with atmospheric lighting, the sauna and the compact gym, all of which are located in the basement around the former vaults. The green courtyard is a quiet oasis, ideal for a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the late afternoon, with a view of the white façade and the wrought iron gateway. In the bar, often with live piano music, the historic setting is combined with a relaxed jazzy atmosphere serving cocktails, local beers and digestifs. Thanks to its own parking lot in the courtyard, a rarity in the center of Bruges, Hotel Navarra is particularly practical for those traveling by car.
The room types range from compact comfort rooms to larger categories, each with calm colors, thick curtains and a classic but fresh style. Here, no distinct design, but a balanced mix of historical details and practical decor, making the rooms a pleasant base after a day in the city. A delicious breakfast buffet with bread and coffee cakes, fruit, yoghurt and hot dishes is served in areas that underline the grandeur of the property. Together, the facilities form the kind of complete package you don't often find in a historic center: swimming pool, wellness, fitness, bar, garden and parking under one roof.
Hotel Navarra is located in the Sint Jakobswijk, one of the most attractive parts of the city center of Bruges, a few minutes' walk from the Grote Markt and the Belfry. The Sint Jakobsstraat itself is a lively street with cobblestones, stepped gables and a mix of creative uses: here you will find small-scale boutiques, art initiatives, coffee bars and De Republiek cultural center in a characteristic building. When you step out of the hotel gate, you are immediately surrounded by the historic facades that give Bruges its unmistakable view.
In the immediate vicinity are some of the city's most important squares, such as the Grand Place with the Belfry and the Burg Square with the Gothic Town Hall and the Basilica of the Holy Blood. A network of narrow streets and alleys runs between these beacons, where you always get a different view of towers, churches and water features. The Reien, the canals that give Bruges its nickname Venice of the North, are a short walk away and provide a natural backdrop for boat trips or quiet walks along the quay.
The neighborhood around St. Jakobs combines historic architecture with a contemporary urban scene. In addition to ancient churches and monasteries, there are galleries, theaters, De Republiek movie house and various addresses where local designers or artisan producers offer their products. At the same time, everything remains small and easy to walk on, so you can mainly experience the city at the pace of the pedestrian.
