Fevery Bruges

In the heart of Bruges, at Collaert Mansionstraat 3, Hotel Fevery welcomes travelers in a small-scale, family-run environment with the amenities of a modern 3-star hotel. The hotel has 10 non-smoking rooms, all en-suite, plus a duplex family room; children are welcome from the age of 12. Hospitality and sustainability run like a thread through the stay: Hotel Fevery bears the EU Ecolabel, the ECEAT label for Ecological and Agricultural Tourism, and was the first in Bruges to receive the Green Key. Guests start the day with a complimentary breakfast made from local, fair trade and organic products. For cyclists, there is limited, free bike storage; for those arriving by car, the hotel offers a private car park that is secured but limited. Due to city rules, the center has been a payment zone since February 2017; parking at Fevery is possible, but those looking for parking for long periods will be alerted to paid parking zones in the city center and the possibility to reserve parking space online. The location is quiet and at the same time central: right next to the 13th-century St. Gillis Church, about 150 metres from the Lange Rei and within walking distance of the Chocolate Museum and Market. The station connection is simple: bus 2 takes travelers from the station to the neighborhood in about 10 minutes (stop about 150 m). In short, Hotel Fevery offers a small-scale, comfortable stay with clear sustainability profiles and limited but available parking options — relevant for travelers looking for a hotel with parking in Bruges.

About the hotel

Hotel Fevery is a small-scale eco hotel in the historic heart of Bruges, on the quiet Collaert Mansionstraat near St. Gilles Church. The house has ten rooms, all with private bathrooms, plus a spacious family room on two levels. The atmosphere is distinctly personal: this is a family hotel where the owners themselves are at the front desk, give tips and prepare breakfast. The decor is simple but neat, with great attention to rest, good beds and practical details such as blackout curtains and decent sound insulation.

Sustainability runs like a red thread through the hotel's policy. Fevery works with an elaborate environmental management system, uses water and energy-efficient installations and opts for ecological cleaning products and renewable energy where possible. In this way, it combines the amenities of a modern three-star hotel with a small environmental footprint. Instead of luxury, we opted for sober quality and care for details, something that is often reflected in guest reviews.

Breakfast is served in a bright breakfast room on the ground floor. The table mainly contains organic and local products: fresh bread and pastries, cheeses and meats, yoghurt, homemade fruit salad and various spreads. Those who like a hearty start to the day can go for boiled eggs, grains and nuts, while sweet lovers opt for jam or chocolate spread. Coffee and tea are served at the table, and the whole thing feels more like a homey breakfast than an anonymous buffet.

For active guests, there is a small bike shed and you can also rent bicycles to explore the area in the warmer months. The hotel is completely smoke-free and focuses primarily on quiet travelers and couples; children are welcome from the age of twelve, so that the general atmosphere in the building remains particularly quiet. Together with the limited but secure private car park, Hotel Fevery is a discreet and comfortable base for those who want to experience Bruges consciously and at a leisurely pace.

The surroundings

Hotel Fevery is located in the Sint Gilliskwartier, a relatively unknown but very charming corner of downtown Bruges. The street itself is narrow and paved, flanked by brick facades and simple townhouses. On the corner is the thirteenth-century Saint Gilles Church, a parish church that is still in use and helps determine the village-like feel of the neighborhood. Despite the central location, there is mainly peace here: there are few cars and the tourist mass tourism that you feel on and around the Markt remains at a distance.

Just one hundred and fifty metres from the hotel, you can reach the Lange Rei, one of the most beautiful watercourses in Bruges. The quay is an ideal place for a first introduction to the city: on one side you can see the historic mansions along the water, and on the other, narrow alleys lead to quiet squares and old monastery complexes. If you walk here in the early morning or at sunset, you get to see Bruges at its most contemplative, often with only the sound of footsteps on the cobblestones and gently rippling water.

At the same time, from here, you can quickly reach the busier, monumental city center. In about ten minutes, you can walk via Jan van Eyck Square to the Markt and the Belfry, with numerous cafes, chocolatiers and small boutiques along the way. The compact scale of Bruges means that you can do almost everything on foot. The official city plan and various mapped out walks fit in nicely with this and allow you to stroll from the canals to the vests and back without ever being far from the hotel.

Things to do in the area

• Choco Story chocolate museum: discover the history of cocoa and chocolate in a stately city building, with demonstrations and tastings that appeal to children and adults alike.

• Frietmuseum: a short walk from the hotel, this unique museum tells you how potatoes and Belgian fries became a cult, ending with a tasting in the medieval cellar.

• Museum of Our Lady of Pottery: along the Potterierei lies this former hospital complex from the thirteenth century, today a quiet museum with religious art, historical hospital heritage and an adjoining church with a baroque interior.

Restaurants & cafes

Restaurants
• Oud Handbogenhof: classic Flemish restaurant on the Baliestraat, near the Sint Gilles Church, where you can enjoy dishes such as beef stew, grills and seasonal specialties in a homely room.

• Tom's Diner: contemporary bistro in a sixteenth-century building on West Gistelhof, known for creative tapas, seasonal cuisine and a warm, slightly rocking atmosphere just off the busiest shopping streets.

• Resto Mojo: cozy restaurant in the Schaerstraat, a 15-minute walk from the hotel, with a menu full of Belgian and international dishes, tapas to share and a relaxed, contemporary decor.

Cafes & bars
• Le Trappiste: specialist beer bar in a thirteenth century cellar on the Kuiperstraat, where you can choose from dozens of draft beers and more than a hundred bottled beers in an attractive, candle-lit interior.

•'t Poatersgat: hidden cellar bar in the Vlamingstraat, accessible via a small gate in the façade, popular for its informal atmosphere, extensive beer menu and characteristic stone vaults.

• Li O Lait: hot coffee bar and eatery on Dweersstraat, in a former bank building, serving quality coffee, tea and simple lunch dishes such as soups, bagels and quiches.

Lunch shops
• Blackbird: popular brunch and lunch spot on Jan van Eyck Square with creative breakfast combinations, rich lunch plates and lots of attention to vegetarian options, served in a stylish, bright interior.

• Sanseveria Bagel Salon: hip bagel bar in Predikherenstraat where you can choose between sweet and savory bagels, often with a vegetarian or vegan filling, in a vintage living room setting, ideal for a relaxing lunch break.

• Margritt: a light coffee and lunch shop in the traffic-free Sint Amandsstraat, with salads, savory cakes and fresh pastries, perfect for taking a break and watching shoppers walk by.

Accessibility

• You can travel by train to Bruges station, from where city buses run to the historic city center in a few minutes; one of the lines stops a short walk from Hotel Fevery, so you only have to walk through the streets with luggage.

• If you prefer to walk, you can reach the hotel in about twenty to twenty five minutes on foot from the station: follow the road to the city center, cross into the historic heart at the Smedenpoort area and walk via the Markt and Jan van Eyck Square to the quiet Collaert Mansionstraat.

• Within the city, it's easiest to get around on foot or by bike; Hotel Fevery offers limited bike parking and, in the warmer months, also rental bicycles, while the compact city center and the many planned city walks ensure that almost all major sights are accessible within fifteen minutes.

Parking

For visitors traveling by car, the car park is an important point of attention. Hotel Fevery has its own, secure private car park with a limited number of spaces, accessible for a fee. Due to the small-scale setup, pre-booking is highly recommended here, especially during weekends and vacation periods.

The entire city center of Bruges is considered a paying parking zone, usually between early morning and evening; street parking is time-limited and relatively expensive for longer stays. For those who prefer to leave the car in a public garage, there are various options. Parking Biekorf, below the city library in the Naaldenstraat, is about ten to fifteen minutes' walk from the hotel and is located near the Markt. Centrally located, covered and open around the clock, this underground garage is a great choice if you want to be close to the main attractions.

Even closer to the hotel is Parking Ezelstraat on Hugo Losschaertstraat, a smaller underground car park on one of the city center's main access streets. From this garage, you can walk to the Markt via the lively Ezelstraat in about ten minutes and then on to Hotel Fevery in a few minutes. Both garages usually offer daily rates that are more affordable than long-term street parking and have lifts and places for people with disabilities; Ezelstraat also has several charging points for electric cars.

If you prefer to leave your car at the edge of the city, you can use the large car park near the station. From here, you can walk to the city center in about eight minutes or take free or low-cost city buses to take you to the center. This is a good solution for longer stays or for travelers who mainly want to travel on foot and by public transport after arrival.

Summary

Hotel Fevery is a quietly located, sustainable eco hotel in the historic center of Bruges. With only ten rooms, a personally run breakfast with local and often organic products, and attention to energy and water conservation, it focuses on travelers who prefer comfort and authenticity over large-scale luxury. The location next to the Saint Gilles Church and near the Lange Rei makes it an ideal base for those who want to explore the city on foot and still want to stay in a quiet neighborhood.

Museums such as Choco Story, the Frietmuseum and the Onze Lieve Vrouw ter Potterie museum await in the immediate vicinity, while a wide range of restaurants, cafes, beer cellars and lunch shops are within a short walk. Thanks to the combination of your own private car park, good connections to the station and various public car parks in the area, Hotel Fevery lets you experience Bruges carefree, whether you're coming by train, bike or car.
